The European Union developed a new international regulation that aims to protect those who are inside the building, by preventing the damage to the building or nearby establishments and facilitating the intervention of the rescue teams.

One of the most critical material to be protected by regulation is wood, as it becomes an easy prey to flames. We must bear in mind that the fireproof paint for wood has been properly formulated so that if a fire occurs, it has almost no flammability or at least, doesn’t contribute to the fire expansion, thus preventing the fireproof varnish from being a greater burden on the fire. All depends on the different desired levels of protection.

Another important factor measured in fireproof varnish is the production and opacity of the smoke generated when the fireproof paint is in contact with a flame, a factor to be greatly considered as, with a low speed to start emissions, and with a lower amount of average smoke, it will maximize the available time for a better view of the emergency exits.

The fireproof coating must withstand too for a considerable time without emitting particulates or flammable drops, specifically Valresa’s fireproof varnishes last for over 600 seconds (10 minutes) without emitting anything.
